To help you prepare for your Zanzibar getaway and make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, we have put together some useful information about the island and our resort.

1. Visa Requirements

Please check the visa requirements applicable to your nationality before travelling to Tanzania. Visas are available upon arrival for many nationalities, although we recommend arranging your visa in advance whenever possible.

2. Infrastructure Tax

A mandatory infrastructure tax of USD 5 per person, per night applies to stays in Zanzibar. This tax is payable directly at the resort.

3. Mandatory Travel Insurance

Since 1 October 2024, Zanzibar has introduced mandatory travel insurance for international visitors.

4. Currency

The official currency of Tanzania is the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS), although US Dollars are widely accepted in Zanzibar.
At Zanzi Resort, our rates are quoted in US Dollars. We also accept Euros, British Pounds and Tanzanian Shillings, applying the exchange rate valid at the time of payment.
Please note: We accept US Dollar banknotes issued after 2009 only.
We recommend bringing some local currency for purchases outside the resort, as smaller shops and local businesses may not accept credit cards. Currency exchange facilities are available at the airport and in Stone Town.

5. Credit Card Payments

We accept Visa and Mastercard.
Payments made by credit card directly at the resort are subject to a 3% bank processing fee.
Payments made online before arrival through our official payment platform are not subject to this additional fee.

6. Weather & What to Pack

Zanzibar enjoys a warm tropical climate throughout the year.
We recommend bringing lightweight clothing, swimwear, sunscreen, insect repellent and comfortable footwear.

7. Local Customs

Zanzibar has a rich cultural heritage and predominantly Muslim traditions.
We kindly encourage guests to respect local customs and dress modestly when visiting villages, Stone Town and other public areas outside the resort.

8. Airport Transfers & Transportation

Private airport transfers can be arranged in advance through Zanzi Resort.
Our standard airport transfer rate is USD 50 per vehicle, per way, for up to 5 guests.
If you would like to arrange a transfer, please contact us with your flight number and scheduled arrival time.
Our team can also assist with private transportation and excursions during your stay.

9. Languages

Swahili and English are widely spoken in Zanzibar.
Our team will be happy to assist you throughout your stay.

10. Dining at Zanzi Resort – Freshly Prepared, À La Carte

At Zanzi Resort, we believe that great dining begins with fresh ingredients, careful preparation and personal attention.
All meals are served à la carte rather than buffet-style, allowing our chefs to prepare each dish fresh and maintain the highest standards of quality.
Breakfast | 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your own pace, choosing from our à la carte breakfast menu.
There is no limit to the number of dishes you may order during breakfast, so you are welcome to enjoy as much as you wish.
Lunch | 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Our à la carte lunch menu offers a selection of freshly prepared dishes, allowing you to choose according to your preferences.
Dinner | 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Dinner at Zanzi Resort is a special experience, featuring a five-course menu that changes every day, inspired by fresh ingredients and our daily deliveries.
Two courses are specially selected by our chef and served to all guests, while the remaining three courses offer a choice of two or three different options.
Our approach focuses on freshness, variety and a personalized dining experience rather than traditional buffet dining.
If you have any dietary requirements, food allergies or special preferences, please inform us in advance so our culinary team can make the necessary arrangements.

11. Experiences & Activities

There is so much to discover in Zanzibar!
From Stone Town and spice farm visits to snorkeling, sunset cruises and other island adventures, our team will be happy to assist you with recommendations and bookings.
For couples celebrating a special occasion, we also offer romantic experiences, including:

12. Your Private Villa & Villa Allocation

Zanzi Resort is an intimate boutique property featuring just 13 private villas, each surrounded by a private garden and featuring its own private pool.
Please note that reservations are confirmed for a specific villa category, not for an individual villa number.
While we are always happy to note your preferences and special requests, the allocation of a particular villa number cannot be guaranteed and is subject to availability.

13. Check-in, Check-out & Payments

Check-in: From 3:00 PM
Check-out: Until 11:00 AM
The outstanding accommodation balance is payable upon arrival, while any additional services and extras can be settled at check-out.
Please note that services provided by external operators or independent businesses may require separate payment and cannot always be added to your resort bill.

14. Secure Payment Information

For your security, all online payments to Zanzi Resort should be made exclusively through our official payment platform, Pesapal:
Alternatively, we can provide our official bank account details for direct bank transfers upon request.
Important: Zanzi Resort never requests payments to private bank accounts and does not use unauthorized third-party payment channels.
Your security and trust are very important to us.
